Sitting majestically over Edinburgh on an extinct volcano, the Castle is truly one of Scotland’s most iconic visitor attractions and has been the residence of some of Scotland’s most famous Kings and Queens for centuries. Here visitors can see the Scottish Crown jewels, the Stone of Destiny, which has seen many previous monarchs crowned, and look out for the one o’clock cannon, which is fired daily.
Edinburgh Dungeons documents and celebrates the darker side of Scotland’s history. With gruesome interactive live shows including the story of Mary King’s Close, Sawney Bean, the notorious Burke and Hare, and terrifying tours of catacombs, this is a fascinating day out for only the very brave!
Having recently undergone massive renovation, the National Museum of Scotland now holds some 20,000 exhibits of art, science and technology, Scottish history, the natural world and world cultures which are spread across 36 galleries.
